Meet my Schipperke who's name is Boo Bear. He has been the ruler of our house for years until recently. We finally put our foot down and learned some training tips that make life much more enjoyable with this little bugger.

I know the header "A love hate relationship" sounds a bit harsh but I love my dog to death but I swear some days I just wanted to strangle him. Not really, I would never harm my animals but I think you understand what I mean.

Some of the questions that we get out walking our Schipperke are:

"Hey, what kind of dog is that?"
A Schipperke

"A Schipperwhat?"
A Schipperke! Pronounced Skipper-key

"Wow, I've never heard of that before. Where are they from?"
Most people haven't heard of them. They are from Belgium and Schipperke is Flemish for "Little Captain". They were used on barges to guard the boat and catch vermin.

"Will he get any bigger than that?"
No, he's full grown. He weighs 23 pounds and is about 14 inches to the shoulders. "Was he born without a tail?" No, his tail was docked as a puppy.
